Chaand Raat @ Juvanni

Chaand Raat @ Juvanni

Please check out the Eid Bazaar I created in the lobby of my office!

Eid is to Muslims what Easter is to Christians or Passover is to Jews. Over the past 20 years of working as a medical doctor, I don’t think I’ve ever had the chance to attend a proper Chaand Raat bazaar—unless I traveled to another city and canceled work.

Last year, I hosted a weekday Eid party at my home. I even brought in a tattoo artist! But I skipped the henna because the OCD in me couldn’t handle the mountain of dishes that followed!

This year, I was determined to do better.

So I brought the Eid Bazaar to my workplace! I invited some of my favorite artisans to help create the ambiance of a Chaand Raat—but during the day!

I wore my blingiest chikankari dress by Huma Adnan and strutted into work like it was a party!

Please check out my dress as I pose with a client’s folder!

Also, check out the fabulous organic henna designs by Jesi!

Henna is a sacred plant in South Asian cultures, especially during celebrations. It’s a plant-based, non-permanent dye used for skin and hair coloring.

And no, I didn’t get a henna tattoo this time either!

But not because I had dishes to wash (I solved that drudgery with disposable plates and cutlery this Eid!). I didn’t get henna because I was working between mingling with old and new friends in the lobby!

P.S. To those asking about the arrival of Farshi Shalwars by Huma Adnan for Eid or ethnic wear https://www.instagram.com/humaadnan/—the Farshi event is happening in mid-April!
