Perimenopause: A Decade of Change Before the Final Pause

Menopause is a whole-system pause—but medically we only “count” it after 12 months without a period.

Before that final pause comes a long runway called perimenopause—often up to a decade of fluctuating hormones that can affect mood, metabolism, sleep, skin, and more.

 During this time, lab results may appear “normal” even when symptoms aren’t—what I call the silence of the labs.
