Remembering Dr. Sood on Her Anniversary

Remembering Dr. Sood on Her Anniversary

"Mohabbat karne waley kam na hongey—Teri mehfil me lekin hum na hongey."

Years after her death, I continue to nurse the grief of losing one of my favorite humans to the pandemic—my girlfriend, Dr. Loveleen Sood. I will always remember her as the bold, extroverted diva who chose me as a friend to help me get over my social anxiety.

In 2017, she came into my life like a blessing in the guise of Simply Beautiful, a wellness spa in the neighboring town that she had decided to close. She asked me to absorb her patients and transfer their care. Little did I know back then that absorbing her client list into my own would come with the additional bonus of her friendship and love.

Unfortunately, the 2020 pandemic took a very hefty toll on her health and wellness, and life stopped for her in 2023. May your spirit travel in peace and harmony! Until we meet again, my friend—perhaps in a different plane of existence!

Please check out pictures of her son with me from last year. He is so adorable and so handsome that, as far as I am concerned, he is Loveleen 2.0, and she now lives through him.

In conclusion, not all stories are sad, some are filled with hope—her son fills us with hope, allowing us to experience versions of her that we remember best.

P.S. I made this reel to a song by one of my favorite Pakistani singers, Arooj Aftab, who sang the best version of "Mohabbat", an ancient classic song of love in Urdu. This is the song that won Arooj her first Grammy. If you have not heard it before, I am posting a link and dedicating it to my girlfriend, Dr. Sood.
