I recently had the pleasure of joining Marina Buksov on The Holistic Pharmacy podcast for a deeply personal conversation about beauty, aging, identity, and the science of preserving self.

One of the ideas we explored is something I have come to believe very strongly over the years:

Beauty is very different from pursuing it.

I don’t believe beauty exists outside of you. I believe it already exists within you. The goal is not to become somebody else entirely, but to stay connected to the version of yourself your mind, skin, and soul still recognize.

This is one of the reasons I have always been cautious about surgery as the first step toward aging gracefully. Chronic skin failure, in my opinion, is best managed preventatively. Help the skin not fail in the first place. Preserve it before you feel disconnected from it. Because the farther we move away from the version of ourselves that once felt natural, the harder it becomes to reconnect to it internally.

You can fool other people into thinking you look beautiful. But if your own brain no longer recognizes you, you may still feel that disconnect inside.

Cutting the skin does not remove the mind attached to it.

To me, beauty is about harmony — preserving the relationship between how you look, how you feel, your identity, your energy, and your sense of self through time.

In this episode, Marina and I also discuss:

  1. Longevity and preventative medicine
  2. Hormonal health and aging
  3. Preserving vitality and confidence
  4. Non-surgical anti-aging approaches
  5. The emotional psychology of beauty

🎙️ You can also follow Bathroom Diaries on Spotify and Apple Podcasts for more conversations on aging, beauty, consciousness, and the evolving perception of self.
